Notifications APIs

Notifications APIs

SOAP

The Notifications API provides endpoints for delivering updates and callbacks related to device and SIM events.

Description

The Notifications APIs describe notifications sent to Customer application and are also known as outbound APIs. Upon receiving notification from Vodafone IoT Platform, Customer application should respond with HTTP 200 response otherwise IoT Platform will retry up to 3 times after the initial attempt only if retry flag is set to yes in back-end. The request will be marked as failed delivery if the retry attempts are exhausted. Outbound APIs will receive requests from IoT Platform to push event notifications towards Customer application when a defined event occurs for that particular customer account.

Use Cases

The Notifications API may be used by client applications wishing to:

Receive real-time event notifications triggered by defined conditions or business rules in the IoT platform.

Be notified when reports are generated and available for retrieval or download.

Monitor usage thresholds (e.g. voice or data) and receive alerts when limits are exceeded.

Receive notifications related to SMS events, including delivery and mobile-terminated messages.

Track device or SIM activity by receiving notifications of data session starts or PDP context activations.

Integrate asynchronous event-driven workflows by consuming outbound notifications pushed from the IoT platform.

Key features

This API enables users to :

  • Receive real-time event notifications triggered by predefined conditions within the IoT platform.
  • Enable asynchronous communication by allowing the platform to push notifications to external customer systems.
  • Notify external applications of report generation and data availability events.
  • Provide alerts on usage thresholds and business rule triggers across services.
  • Deliver notifications related to SMS events and device or SIM activity.
  • Ensure reliable delivery with retry mechanisms based on acknowledgement responses.
